On Monday 23rd October we welcomed 12 eggs to our classroom. We learned about how these 12 eggs were fertilised by a rooster and that in 19 to 24 days we will hopefully welcome 12 chicks. We keep the eggs in an incubator at 39.2 degrees and they must turn each day in order for the chicks to correctly develop.
Each Monday we candle the eggs, which means we must put the eggs into a dark space and place a light source near them. This allows us to see if the chicks are developing correctly inside the shell.
As a class we are looking forward to hopefully welcoming the chicks this week, during Science Week.
